Nasacort
May 2000
Q.
I heard that my nasal spray Nasacort was recalled. Do I have to worry since I already used some of it?
A.
No. My understanding is that some of the lot numbers of inhalers had more active ingredient of steroid than usual.
However, because it is a topical nasal spray, only a small amount gets absorbed anyway, therefore it is not thought to be toxic. However, I would check with your pharmacist or Rhone-Poulenc Rorer who makes the product to see if your inhaler was one of the lot numbers recalled. The phone # to Rhone etc. is 1-888-272-6673. In the interim, you may want to call your doctor to consider switching you to a different inhaler such as Flonase or Rhinocort.
