Question:   I suffer from a blocked up nose nearly all year round and can never breathe easy through both nostrils. Instead I always breathe through my mouth which probably doesn't help my asthma. Also, I'm constantly being asked if I have a cold as the problem also affects the clarity of my speech. Is there anything that can be done for me and could surgery on my adenoids be the answer? If so, where would I have this performed and how much would the proceeded cost?    Dr. McLaughlin's Answer

Question:   My husband was in a auto accident one week ago. He was diagnosed with fractured ribs and bruised lungs. How long will he have pain from his rib fractures? I have been told it can take up to three months before he is able to recover fully.    Dr. McLaughlin's Answer

Question:   I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome/fibromyalgia about two years ago. I am on so many different medications, I am getting concerned. I prefer not to take medication of any kind, yet now that I finally started doing what the doctor ordered, I think they are going overboard. Currently I am taking daily: 40 milligrams Elavil, 800 milligrams Lodine, 10 milligrams Ambien, 1 Soma or 1 Vicodin a day, Adipex (this one not daily), Remoral (this one not daily), recently issued Celexa (20 mil) in addition to the above drugs.

As I was reading the inserts, it appears that there could be some conflict and to talk with my doctor. Any comments?    Dr. McLaughlin's Answer
