    Question:   My doctor says I have lichen planus in the mouth. I smoke and I have a few drinks on the weekend. Does this affect my chances of getting better? I have had it about 1 year now. It has also affected my arm, which has healed quite a bit.    Dr. McLaughlin's Answer


    Question:   My father had surgery to repair a hernia and during the surgery the surgeon dropped the surgical needle and was unable to retrieve it, so he left it there. Is it safe to leave such an object in the body for the rest of his life, or should he have it removed? He is 46-years-old.    Dr. McLaughlin's Answer


    Question:   I sustained a torn tricep due to a motorcycle accident. I have had the surgery and am interested in knowing how common is this injury and what the rehab time is. Also, is the possibility of re-injury more likely now?    Dr. McLaughlin's Answer
