Q. I am trying to find an alphabetical list of DSM-IV diagnoses (not the definitions) plus numerical codes together, but have had no success. I have found a web site that is just the opposite: a numerical listing with diagnoses. Can you help me? (from an M.D.)

A. Please excuse me if I am missing something in your question, but Appendix E in the DSM-IV book itself provides an alphabetical list of disorders, along with the codes. The code numbers are listed first, but that shouldn't interfere with being able to look them up alphabetically. You can obtain the complete DSM-IV via American Psychiatric Press, Inc., Washington D.C.
