Question: I am a mental health clinician who is looking for alternatives to the challenges of non-compliance not only with medication but also psychosocial strategies. Currently there are legislative options that enforce treatment but I would like some other less intrusive options especially with the chronic disorders. Do you know of any?    Dr. Pies' Answer

Question: I am 25 years old and was diagnosed 3 years ago with bipolar disorder. I take medications: Neurontin 100 mg and Seroquel 100 mg every day at bedtime. I still recreationally use marijuana and drink alcohol. I have spoken to my psychiatrist about this matter but he just says not to use such drugs. I was hoping that you would be able to explain to me exactly what are the effects of such usage on the body and brain regarding my diagnosis and medications?    Dr. Pies' Answer

Question: I am a Registered Nurse, a manager of a busy ER and ICU, and have been diagnosed with chronic PTSD since I was 18. I took the events of this horrible time and suppressed them, thinking I could just deal with this. I had been taken by some men for three days and nights, where I was violently raped, beaten, tied down, etc. It was a very traumatic time and I believed I would not live...    Dr. Pies' Answer
